Despite morning showers and afternoon clouds, organizers of the 27th annual Hope Heritage Days reported more than 10,000 spectators crowded the town square for flea markets, food booths and other activities and demonstrations.

An overflow crowd of more than 200 attended a meeting at the courthouse to protest the city’s proposed annexation of 31 square miles of land and about 6,500 area residents.
