Columbus police officers arrested a local man with a breath alcohol level more than three times the legal limit after his vehicle was spotted weaving early Saturday morning.
At approximately 3:15 a.m., a CPD officer observed the vehicle driven by Cody L. Wooten, 25, of 8124 N. Burbrink Drive, weaving in the roadway near 18th Street and Sycamore Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman.
The officer stopped Wooten’s vehicle a short time later and noted that he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Wooten later reportedly failed several field sobriety tests and provided a portable breath sample of .284% (over three times the legal limit), Harris said.
Wooten was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital for a blood draw and was later placed under arrest, Harris said.
Wooten was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony, Harris said.
Wooten was being held in jail in lieu of $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
