City chooses Sprague Hotel Developers for proposed hotel/conference center

City officials will work in 2020 with Sprague Hotel Developers to strike a deal to develop a proposed hotel/conference center in the heart of downtown Columbus.

The Columbus Redevelopment Commission voted Monday to approve the hotel/conference center team’s recommendation of Columbus-based Sprague Hotel Developers and to move forward with negotiations.

Sprague Hotel Developers is a hotel management and development company that operates hotels in central and southern Indiana, including the Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express in Taylorsville.

The proposed hotel/conference center is a major component of the city’s Envision Columbus downtown strategic development plan, a road map for the future of the commercial area of downtown Columbus and its neighboring residential areas and parks.
