Robotics teams from two local elementary schools, the Parkside Power Pirates and the Smith Sonic Cyborgs, won first-place awards at the 2009 First Lego League Indiana Championship at Purdue University.

In its seventh decade, the Columbus Fire Department’s Cheer Fund, delivered toys, clothes, candy and bicycles to nearly 800 children in more than 500 Bartholomew County families.

Tommy Warner, who portrayed Santa Claus in the Columbus area for 17 years, was added to the Metropolitan Exchange Club’s Book of Golden Deeds.
