Ralph Barlow, 85, of Columbus, passed from this life Friday, December 27, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Barlow was born April 29, 1934, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the son of Gordon and Clara Houchens Barlow. On June 1, 1955, Ralph married Alberta I. Staggs; she survives.

Mr. Barlow was a meat cutter at the former Ricketts Grocery and Farmers Marketing. He then started a career at Cummins Engine Company where he worked in the Research Department retiring in 1988 after 25 years of service.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a 55 year member of St. John’s Masonic Lodge No. 20. He had a passion for restoring old vehicles such as Ford Mustangs, trucks or any other type of vehicle. He enjoyed membership in the Mustang Club. Mr. Barlow found peace at the Ohio River, he enjoyed camping near the river and boating. He enjoyed being on his computer playing games or cards or staying in touch with family and friends. Mr. Barlow built his garage behind his home, he did not have a saw, so he cut the two by fours with an ax.

Mr. Barlow is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alberta; children, Daniel (Dana) Barlow of Columbus, David (Tina) Barlow of Elizabethtown, and Debra (Calvin) Dunbar of Elizabethtown; grandchildren, Christi (Ray) Faulkner, Jason Dunbar, Jessica Barlow and Lyndsey; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Macayla (Conner), Jakob and Brandon; a great-great grandson, Ryder; and a sister, Janet Sanders of Glasgow, Kentucky.

Mr. Barlow was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Clara Barlow and a grandson, Adam Barlow.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street.

A Masonic memorial service will be held at 11:45 a.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Pursley officiating.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
