BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA
Shayna Olivia Wilcox, 22, of Baton Rouge, formally of Columbus, died unexpectedly at 2:49 a.m. Sunday, December 15, 2019 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
She was born September 15, 1997, the daughter of James Wilcox and Charisa Johnson.
Shayna was a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and wanted to treat soldiers with PTSD. She had also just received her Bachelor Degree from Louisiana State University.
Survivors include her greatest love, Jawun “Italian” Giovanni; father, James (Judith) Wilcox of California; mother, Charisa Johnson of Columbus; sister, Tomeka Williams of Indianapolis; brother, Carnell Williams of Columbus; grandparents, Deborah Johnson and Gary Harris, both of Columbus and Marla Wilcox of Nevada; and several cousins, aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her aunt, Jessica (Harris) Salas and brother, James Wilcox, Jr.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Rev. Larry Rowe officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Indiana Army National Guard Honor Guard.
