Around Town – January 1

Orchids to …

• the Rev. David Burnett for his service to the Christian ministry, from John Tinkey.

• Michael Carson for the calendars.

• the organizations providing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to the needy in Bartholomew County.

• Scott at AutoZone for helpful, friendly customer service.

• everyone who donates time and gifts to the Cheer Fund, and all those who work tirelessly to make it what it is today. Our son had gifts under the tree at home that he otherwise wouldn’t had had, and he loved everything, from the Norred family.

• all the Republicans who stand behind our president.

• Milo for the last 34 years; looking forward to more, from Diane.

• my Republic paper carrier who puts my paper on my porch every morning.

• Julie for being so kind and thoughtful and helping the cold, stressed lady locate her car Monday in the Walmart parking lot.

• House Democrats who in 2019 gave us constant reminders of what happens when they’re put in charge.

• Jeanine at Dr. Will Watts’ dental office for her amazing service, from Sharon.

Onions to …

• people who will not respond to my question of why Trump says his administration is transparent when he will not release his tax returns.

• our pitifully weak culture that forgets three squares and a cot is all a jail inmate should get.

• our medical “community” that has forgotten how to diagnose and instead panics and demands you go to the emergency room.

• the Democrat who thinks the president does not pay taxes.

• the president for using my tax dollars to spend 85 days at his golf clubs in 2019.

• the people putting in the negative political posts full of hate — who someone voted for does not define them as a person.

• the health care facility that isn’t maintaining the upkeep on existing facilities while spending millions of dollars to try to keep competition from coming to town.

• the person who continues to spout the propaganda that the Obama administration spied on the Trump campaign; it came out in the impeachment hearings by intelligence officials that it did not happen.

• the onion writer chastising a farmer for planting crops so that people can eat.

• the girls’ high school basketball program for playing favor to whining parents about playing time.

• the government’s monopoly game — go to jail and get free meals, go to school and get meal-shamed.

• the onion submitter for falsely claiming that President Trump pays no taxes.

Happy Birthday to …

• Jim Wheatley, from Sandy and Lily.

Happy Anniversary to …

• Johnny & Barb McCarter on No. 40.

• Barbara and Johnny McCarter, from your family.

• John and Lydia Siler, from Dorothy Todd.
