If you bemoaned the fact that the unofficial national chocolate holiday of sorts had passed in the form of Valentine’s Day, never fear.

The Arc of Bartholomew County’s fourth annual fundraiser “Always Ready for Chocolate” is set for 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Commons, 300 Washington St. in downtown Columbus. The event is a spinoff of what once was called “A Taste of Chocolate,” and offers everything from brownies to pies to cakes and also coffee, beer and wine.

The Arc is a nonprofit and advocacy organization for people with intellectual and physical disabilities. The gathering normally includes about 25 vendors with a variety of delectable delicacies.

Besides the food, The Arc also is hosting an art show at the gathering. Plus, entertainment, hosted by Rich Anthony of 106.1 The River radio station, also will be a part of the event.

Tickets are $20 for eight servings or advanced $3 for single serving, $4 at the door. Tickets are available at Viewpoint Books downtown, at eventbrite.com, or at the door.

In some years, Always Ready For Chocolate has generated more than $4,000 for the organization that receives no state or federal funding. Members regularly go to the state capital and to Washington, D.C., to educate lawmakers on the needs of people with intellectual and physical disabilities.
