Looking Back – April 22

Sean Perry, Laura Baker and Amanda Holley worked making potholders between classroom assignments in Annette Heath's third-grade class at Mount Healthy Elementary School in 1995. The potholders were sold to students' family and friends to raise money for replacement bulbs for the Festival of Lights displays at Mill Race Park. From The Republic archives

Workers began installing a “curtain wall” around the new Commons, meant to be aesthetically pleasing and provide efficient temperature control inside the structure.

Individual contributions to the “Save the Crump” campaign cleared the $3,400 mark with several major fundraisers just beginning their efforts, including the sale of 1,000 “Save the Crump” buttons.

In a prelude to bringing touch tone dialing to Columbus, telephone users with the prefixes 372, 376 and 379 were greeted with a more pleasant sounding “melodic” dial tone instead of the original buzzing sound.
