State: 41,013 Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) said 264 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at ISDH, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and private laboratories. That brings to 41,013 the total number of Indiana residents known to have the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s total.

A total of 2,289 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase of 24 over the previous day. Another 186 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record. Deaths are reported based on when data are received by ISDH and occurred over multiple days.

Bartholomew County is reporting 561 positive cases with 42 deaths.

The Bartholomew County Health Department said 6,733 tests have been performed with the 561 positive results and 5,284 testing negative. There are 1,104 tests pending in the county.

The number of positives of Bartholomew County residents may include testing that was conducted out of county. Conversely, the number of total tests may also include submissions for non-Bartholomew County residents. The counts listed for positives and deaths is only for Bartholomew County residents.

Surrounding counties reported:

Jackson County: 422 positive cases, two deaths.

Brown County: 36 positive cases, one death.

Jennings County: 142 positive cases, four deaths.

Decatur County: 238 positive cases, 32 deaths.

Shelby County: 408 positive cases, 23 deaths.

Johnson County: 1,177 positive cases, 115 deaths.

To date, 371,182 tests have been reported to ISDH, up from 363,745 on Tuesday, following corrections to the previous day’s total.

Intensive care unit and ventilator capacity remains steady. As of today, more than 38 percent of ICU beds and more than 81 percent of ventilators are available.

Anyone with concerns about COVID-19 is urged to call the health system’s Triage Resource Call Center, a phone resource line launched by CRH to handle calls from residents with questions and concerns about exposure or symptoms associated with COVID-19. The phone line is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and is staffed by registered nurses who will offer screening questions and potentially recommend a course of action for patients.
