COLUMBUS, Ind. — City officials will meet with the public Wednesday in an informational session about proposed Columbus golf course changes.

The meeting will be held in The Commons’ upper level at 6 p.m. Wednesday (July 8), and also livestreamed on the city’s website. There will be a limit to the number of people allowed to attend due to guidelines regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Executive Director of Administration and Community Development Mary Ferdon said that the upper level of The Commons can seat about 80 people with social distancing precautions.

“We recognize there is a lot of interest and passion around this issue,” she said. “The public is welcome. We will try to accommodate as many people who attend in person as possible.”

According to Ferdon, seats will be 6 feet apart, and it is recommended that all attendees wear masks.

Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop and Columbus Parks and Recreation Board President Mark Levett will give a presentation on the proposed golf course changes followed by a question and answer period, Ferdon said.
