COLUMBUS, Ind. — In a COVID-19 world still hungry for sports, Columbus native Tony Stewart understands that some people are simply hungry amid job and related losses.
So the Tony Stewart Foundation, in tandem with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce and the Bartholomew County Public Library, has launched a blessing box of nonperishable food ranging from granola bars to canned meats such as tuna.
The box, located just to the left of the library entrance at 536 Fifth St., was celebrated Thursday morning in a brief ceremony at the library as the chamber welcomed the foundation as its newest member.
The box, available around the clock, allows those who need food to take what they need while also allowing anyone to donate items to the box.
