BCSC to vote on reopening plan at board meeting Monday

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. board will consider approval of the 2020-21 reopening plan for schools Monday.

The vote will take place at a school board meeting at 6:30 p.m. following a presentation by BCSC Superintendent Dr. Jim Roberts. The meeting will be held in the Terrace Room of the administration building with the option for board members to attend virtually or in person.

A limited number of people will be able to attend in-person at the school corporation’s administrative offices and are asked to bring and wear masks if planning to attend.

Only 52 seats will be available for guests because the room will only be filled to 50% capacity and social distancing will be practiced, school officials said. Any guest wishing to speak should sign in before the meeting starts.

For those watching online, there will be a slight change in format. Previously, the board has livestreamed its meetings using Facebook Live. The board will now use YouTube to livestream and share the video link on both Facebook and the school system’s website.

According to a recent survey by the school corp., about 69% of responses indicated an intention to send children back to school in person, 15% wanted to pursue eLearning, 15% wanted more information and less than 1% planned not to enroll at BCSC at all.
