The Indiana Department of Workforce Development reported Bartholomew County had lost 750 jobs from a year earlier and the county’s labor force — the number of residents aged 16 and older who were either employed or unemployed and seeking work — fell by nearly 1,400, or more than 3.5 percent, to 37,476.

The first seven Columbus police officers drove their city-issued patrol cars home in accordance with a new take-home car policy instituted to help curb crime and increase police visibility.

Attendance at Bartholomew County 4-H Fair was believed to have hit 25,000, the biggest crowd ever for the yearly event.
