The Indiana Department of Transportation has opened one of two bridges over I-65.
The Carr Hill Road bridge is now open to traffic as work on the County Road 200S bridge continues, INDOT officials said.
Initially, INDOT had announced the Carr Hill Road overpass would be closed until Aug. 1, overlapping for two weeks with the 200S bridge work.
Columbus officials allowed INDOT to close the two bridges at the same time at a Board of Works meeting in early July.
The work on these roads is part of INDOT’s superstructure replacement project. The nearly-$5 million project was awarded to Milestone Contractors in November 2019. According to INDOT, both bridges are to be completed by Nov. 30.
The detour route for County Road 200S involves taking State Route 11 to Deaver Road.
