New gateway signs greet visitors to AirPark

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Four new gateway signs have been installed at the Columbus AirPark campus, the latest progress in the Destination Neighborhoods Project which began in 2017.

The Destination Neighborhoods Project was started by the Visitors Center in Columbus with support from Indiana Office of Tourism Development, the Heritage Fund — The Community Foundation of Bartholomew County and the city of Columbus.

The project gave new visual identities to four sections of the Columbus community, all based on Paul Rand’s 1974 “Dancing C” identity for Columbus.

The new sculptural metal signs for the AirPark were designed and fabricated locally by Central Sheet Metal based on concepts developed by Bud Rodecker of Thirst, a Chicago-based firm that led the design process for the Destination Neighborhoods Project.
