Also, on Thursday, the COVID-19 Community Task Force’s latest community spread update showed that while the per capita positive rate was lower last weekend, it has since risen to 96.3.

The COVID-19 dashboard indicators are intended to guide the BCSC on deciding whether or not schools can meet for in-person learning. Schools moved back to eLearning on Nov. 9 and will continue to stay virtual through winter break.

BCSC tentative plan is to return to the in-person/remote option model on Jan. 5. However, the school corporation noted in a press release that it will keep an eye on local community spread and “make adjustments as necessary.”

Thursday’s community spread update from the task force showed the following:

There are 124 new cases, and the number is increasing (as of Dec. 2)

The per capita positive rate is 96.3 and increasing (as of Dec. 2)

The percent positive test rate is 41.4% and increasing (as of Nov. 26)

There are 59 COVID hospitalizations, and the number is increasing (as of Dec. 2)

Test turnaround time is 3.1 days and decreasing (as of Nov. 29)

Per capita positive rate, percent positive test rate and hospitalizations are in the substantial spread category. Test turnaround time is in the moderate spread category.

While per capita rate was recently as low as 86.1 on Nov. 28 and 86.3 on Dec. 1, it increased to 96.3 on Dec. 2.
