Flat Rock-Hawcreek announces return to in-school learning

HOPE — Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp. has sent a letter to parents stating a return to in-person learning is planned for January.

Superintendent Shawn Price said in the letter that in an attempt to shift instructional days to potentially better circumstances and avoid a post-holiday spike, the school corporation will modify its calendar for the second semester.

Students and teachers will return on Jan. 11, moving the first four student days in January to built-in snow makeup days in February and March.

The schedule would be:

  • Dec. 19 to Jan. 10: No school
  • Jan. 11: Teachers and students return to school for in-person instruction with a continued virtual option.
  • Jan. 18: School in session (makeup day for Nov. 16
  • Feb. 15: School in session (makeup day for Jan. 5
  • March 8-10: School in session for makeup days for Jan. 6, 7, 8
  • March 11 and 12: No school for possible snow day makeup
  • March 14-21: Spring Break, no school
