Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. officials are reporting that since Aug. 10, the school corporation has had 337 positive COVID cases. Of this number, 199 have been students, 103 have been staff and 35 have been teachers.
The cases are as follows, by building:
Administration: Five staff members (5 total)
Busy Bees: Seven staff, three teachers (10 total)
Central: Nine students, two staff (11 total)
Clifty Creek: Three students, seven staff, five teachers (15 total)
CSA Fodrea: Two students, three staff, three teachers (8 total)
CSA Lincoln: Five students, two staff, one teacher (8 total)
CSA New Tech: 11 students, two staff, one teacher (14 total)
Columbus East: 48 students, nine staff, five teachers (62 total)
Information Services Center: Five staff (5 total)
McDowell/Bright Beginnings: Six students, three staff (9 total)
Mt. Healthy: Five students, one staff, two teachers (8 total)
Columbus North: 67 students, 15 staff, five teachers (87 total)
Northside: 11 students, three staff, two teachers (16 total)
Parkside: Seven students, five staff (12 total)
Richards: Nine students, one staff, two teachers (12 total)
Rockcreek: Two students, two staff, two teachers (6 total)
Schmitt: One student, four staff, one teacher (6 total)
Smith: Five students, two staff, one teacher (8 total)
Southside: Four students, five staff (9 total)
Transportation and maintenance: 17 staff (17 total)

On Thursday, COVID-19 Community Task Force’s latest community spread report showed that the per capita positive rate is 81.3 and on a decreasing trend, as of Dec. 16.
The COVID-19 dashboard indicators are intended to guide the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. on deciding whether or not schools can meet for in-person learning. Schools moved back to eLearning on Nov. 9 and will continue to stay virtual through winter break.
Superintendent Jim Roberts said at a recent school board meeting that BCSC is having ongoing conversations with “state and local medical health professionals” as it examines its options for the new semester, which begins Jan. 5. He said that the school corporation will likely make a public announcement about its tentative plans soon.
Thursday’s community spread update from the task force showed the following:
There are 85 new cases, and the number is increasing (as of Dec. 16)
The per capita positive rate is 81.3 and decreasing (as of Dec. 16)
The percent positive test rate is 37.8 and decreasing (as of Dec. 12)
There are 49 COVID hospitalizations, and the number is increasing (as of Dec. 16)
Test turnaround time is 2.4 days and increasing (as of Dec. 13)
Per capita positive rate, percent positive test rate and hospitalizations are in the substantial spread category. Test turnaround time is in the minimal spread category.
