On the morning of December 26th, 2020, Alice Mae Baker, 95, of Columbus died peacefully in her home with family at her side. She was born In Indianapolis, Indiana on March 12, 1925.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Mona Clark, husband Mose Baker of thirty-three years, and twenty-five year companion Carl Schoettmer. Siblings: Lewis Clark Jr, Carl Clark, Carolyn Childers, Charles Clark, David Clark, Ronald Clark, Joy Clark.

She is survived by her siblings, Barbara Hoffman, Russell Clark, Mona Norton, Frances Love, Richard Clark; children, Jack Baker, Memphis, Indiana; Mose Duane Baker, Phoenix, Arizona; Sharon Sickels, Martinsville, Indiana; Linda Summitt, Bloomington, Indiana; grandchildren, Kizlena Ray, Mercedes Person, Melony Emberton, Duana Foster, Kathy Flinsbaugh, Matthew Turner, David Burgoon, Parnelli Baker, Heather Stuffle, Dustin Turner, Jason Summitt, Tyler Summitt; 22 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Alice was the matriarch of her vast family who adored her. She worked in the service industry in Columbus until retiring at age 74, including Taylor’s Grill, Saps Bakery, Fiesta Restaurant, and the Imperial House, where she loved and was loved by her many patrons who will always remember her.

She was a member of Walker Chapel Church and she was also member of TOPS Club where she had many lifelong friends.

Family and friends are invited to share in the memorial service at Barkes, Weaver, & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington St, Columbus, Indiana on Tuesday, December 29th, 2020. Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Rev. Roy Hendershot will perform the service beginning at 1:00pm.

Alice will be laid to rest at Daugherty Cemetery, in Columbus, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Walker Chapel Church.

Due to pandemic restrictions, we are limited to 50 people in our funeral home. We do ask that visitors follow the social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are required.
