The COVID-19 Community Task Force’s latest community spread report shows that the per capita positive rate is up to 59.7 and increasing.
The COVID-19 dashboard indicators are intended to guide the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. on deciding whether or not schools can meet for in-person learning.
BCSC has begun the new semester with hybrid learning for secondary students and in-person learning for elementary students. According to a recent statement from the school corporation, the hybrid model will remain in place for middle and high schools for at least two weeks, through Jan. 15.
Monday’s community spread update from the task force showed the following:
There are 45 new positive cases, and the number is increasing (as of Jan. 3)
The per capita positive rate is 59.7 and increasing (as of Jan. 3)
The percent positive test rate is 44% and increasing (as of Dec. 30)
There are 49 COVID hospitalizations, and the number is decreasing (as of Jan. 3)
Test turnaround time is 1.8 days and decreasing (as of Jan. 3)
Per capita positive rate, percent positive test rate and hospitalizations are in the substantial spread category. Test turnaround time is in the minimal spread category.
The per capita positive rate was recently on a decreasing trend, reaching as low as 46.9 on Dec. 30. Since then, it has risen as follows:
50.3 on Dec. 31
50.8 on Jan. 1
54.6 on Jan. 2
59.7 on Jan. 3
The percent positive test rate has fluctuated somewhat in the past two weeks but is on an generally increasing trend.
While hospitalizations are up somewhat — 49 on of Jan. 3, as opposed to 40 on Dec. 31 — the indicator is stated to be on generally decreasing trend.
