Columbus North junior Emily Moore scored first place in all four events to claim the all-around title and lift the Bull Dogs to a 106.725-100.825 victory over Columbus East in Monday night’s crosstown gymnastics meet.

Moore had an all-around score of 37.85. She was first on the vault (9.475), bars (9.425), beam (9.25) and floor (9.7).

“I felt really confident in everything, probably except my landing on beam,” Moore said. “Other than that, I still did really good.”

North coach Betsy Warble is pleased to see Moore off to a great start to the season.

“She is performing right where we want her right now. Our goal isn’t to peak yet. Our goal is to peak at the end,” Warble said. “She’s got some skills she’s working on putting in later on this season that hopefully will continue to take her up and up. We couldn’t have asked more from her. She has stepped up where we needed her. She has just performed in a way that she’s capable of doing.”

For the Bull Dogs, Madi Edwards was second on the vault (8.925) and bars (8.55) and placed fourth on the floor (8.85). Lindsey Mullis and Abby Jacobi tied for fourth on the bars (8.45). Jacobi was second on the beam (8.875).

“After our first meet last Wednesday (against Franklin Central), we came back and regrouped. We looked at execution. We looked at just cleaning up routines and being more mindful,” Warble said. “They worked really hard the rest of last week in preparation for tonight and moving into the rest of the season.”

East, which was competing in its first meet of the season, came into the meet shorthanded with the absence of one of their top gymnasts in senior Taylen Lane, who was out due to a concussion after falling on her head during a practice routine a couple weeks ago.

East coach Nancy Kirshman said Lane is getting close to returning, but hasn’t been cleared to fully practice yet.

During Monday’s meet, Reagan Mount rolled her ankle during her floor routine, and was scratched from the beam. It is unknown how long Mount be out.

“We’re just not buying a break to get everyone healthy at the same time, but it is what it is. Hopefully, we get ours out of the way,” Kirshman said.

For the Olympians, Elise LaSell finished second on the floor (8.975), third on the beam (8.775) and fourth on the vault (8.5). Makyna Mullins placed third on the bars (8.475). Cami Warren was third on the floor (8.95). Mount placed third on the vault (8.65).

“Elise had a good meet tonight, Cami Warren had a good meet and Reagan was having a good meet. It was Makyna’s first bar routine, so she did a nice job,” Kirshman said. “We have the people to do it, but we still have a group that is young in competition. I think we can be competitive, so I look for us to improve as we move on.”
