COLUMBUS
Our beloved Charles Martin Denney, 79, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was born on April 18, 1941 in Columbus. He was the son of Louis and Ruth Denney.
Charlie graduated from Columbus High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. He worked as an Engineer for Cummins Engine Company for 33 years until his retirement. After retirement, he joined his wife, Bev, in the real estate business and they worked as a husband and wife team for RE/MAX for a number of years.
Charlie was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed bowling, playing golf, boating at Lake Monroe, watching sports, especially the Colts; but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. Charlie was an Amazing Husband, Father and Grandpa.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Bev, of 57 years; his two sons, Rob (Michelle) Denney of Illinois and Steve (Dawn) Denney of Columbus; his grandchildren, Mike Denney of Florida, Nick Denney of Illinois, Matt Denney of Wisconsin, and Natalie Denney of Illinois; Shilee (Kadi) Denney of New York and Cody Bauerle of Columbus; his sister, Helen Hiebsch of Minnesota; and his brother, Daryl (Dee) Denney of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Norman and Julian Denney.
In keeping with Mr. Denney’s wishes cremation will take place and there will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Memorials in Mr. Denney’s name may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.
