Benjamin “Ben” R. Hall

COLUMBUS

Benjamin Ross Hall, 32, passed the ultimate finish line into eternal life, January 25, 2021 in Columbus Indiana. Ben is survived by his much-loved wife Dimple (Patel) Hall and baby son Oliver, parents Gordon and Teresa, brothers Alex and Jared, grandmother Luella Bogenschutz, parents-in-law Dilip and Nayana Patel, and brother-in-law Jason as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins in the Hall and Bogenschutz families. Born December 11, 1988 Ben was raised in Zionsville, IN. He graduated from Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering in 2011. While at Purdue, Ben competed in crew (rowing) all four years creating many lifelong friendships. He was employed for 10 years at Cummins Inc. as an Applied Mechanics Engineer. Ben lived his life to the very fullest, packing in memories and moments enough for twice his lifetime. Ben could light up a room with his smile and laugh. His friendly demeanor and offbeat sense of humor endeared him to everyone he met. Anyone who talked to Ben about his hobbies could immediately see his passion shining through. Ben loved spending time with family and friends; holidays, annual family campouts, the Indy 500, weekends at Jake’s lake house, Brewfest, smoking meats on the Big Green Egg and discovering delicious new recipes. An avid triathlete, Ben competed in multiple IRONMAN events, even scheduling chemotherapy treatments around his training so he could successfully finish a full IRONMAN in 2018. He was a member of the Columbus triathlon club, Tri-812, by whom he was honored in 2019 with the first annual Ben Hall Spirit Award. He had a love of cars and auto racing, participating in autocross with his dream car, a Lotus Elise. He will be greatly missed by his big slobbery Great Dane, Hero. Ben was preceded in death by his grandparents Chet and Mary Hall, grandfather John Bogenschutz, and uncles Mike and Tony Bogenschutz. Ben asked that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Purdue Crew (Rowing) Club.
