Fred Euler Johnson, 83, of Columbus, passed away at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus.

Born December 8, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Euler) Johnson. He married Carolyn Hundley on July 25, 1965, in Columbus; she survives.

Fred was a 1954 graduate of Paris Crossing High School and attended IUPUI in Indianapolis. He served in the National Guard in the early 1960’s. Fred was a lifelong member of Vernon Presbyterian Church in Vernon. He was a member of the Six Mile Masonic Lodge in Hayden and was Worshipful Master in 2006. Fred was also a member of the Murat Shiners Club. He was an employee of Cummins for 30 years and retired in 1986. Fred enjoyed woodworking, fishing, stain glass work, collecting coins, gardening, and most of all, family time.

Surviving with his wife, Carolyn, are his sons, Jeffrey A. (Mary) Johnson of Garrett, Kentucky, and James D. (Janet) Johnson of Lawrenceburg; sister, Mary (Marsha Sloan) Johnson of Muncie; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service for Fred will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with Rev. Michael Bean officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Masonic services will be held by Six Mile Masonic Lodge on the evening of the visitation. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in honor of Fred through the funeral home to Vernon Presbyterian Church and Six Mile Masonic Lodge.
