Buddina Lea Mesaeh, 78, of North Vernon, passed away at 10:31 p.m. on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany.

Born March 2, 1942, in Bloomington, she was the daughter of James Edward and Sybil (Bastin) Herbin. She married Patrick Joseph Mesaeh on April 4, 1970 in Edinburgh; he preceded her in death on November 23, 2008.

Buddina worked at local flea markets, Arvin’s in Columbus, and for Job Corp. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. She enjoyed gardening, animals, flea markets, cooking and bowling.

Survivors include sons, Carl Vaught and Ray Vaught, both of North Vernon; daughter, Buddina (Steve) Van Antwerp of Columbus; step-daughters, Patty Ray of Memphis, Tennessee, Cindy Cutter of Terra Haute and Penny Smith of Rock Hill, South Carolina; brother, Jimmie Herbin of Arizona; sister, Sharon Moore of Lindale, Texas; grandchildren, Jeremy Van Antwerp, Brittany (Jason) Burns, Sierra (Austin) Hover, Cordell Vaught, and Johnny (Rebecca) Cutsinger, all of Columbus, Ledina Sills, Carla Vaught, Ray Ray Vaught, Brian Vaught, Kyle (Shelby) Vaught, and Nastassia (David) Powers, all of North Vernon, Charles Vaught of Westport, and Chad (Kaytin) Vaught of Elizabethtown; and twenty seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Sonny Herbin; and great-grandchild, Ariel Vaught.

A funeral service for Buddina will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. James Nugent officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, February 26, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.
