Helen F. Milnes, 103, a resident of Madison, Indiana, formerly a resident of Marr Road in Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, February 28, 2021 at her home.

Mrs. Milnes’ life story began November 8, 1917, in Columbus, Indiana, she is the loving daughter of Albert and Clara Heidenreich Fiesbeck. On September 17, 1942, Helen married John R. “Bob” Milnes by Reverend August E. Brauer at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death February 24, 2008.

A homemaker, Mrs. Milnes was a lifelong and oldest member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Christian Service Guild, Alter Guild, Lutheran Missionary League and participated in the shut-in-visitation. She had been a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and was a Bartholomew County 4-H leader. She enjoyed her membership in the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority. Mrs. Milnes loved her grandchildren and spending time with her family and she enjoyed cooking.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mary Ellen (William) McClelland of Madison, Indiana; grandchildren, Kristen (Rick) Mundt of Madison, Indiana and William R. (Casey) McClelland of Otisco, Indiana; great-grandchildren, Chelsea L. McClelland, Calvin L. (Chasity) McClelland, Coleton L. McClelland, Clay L. McClelland, Joseph Sutphin, Caleb B. Mundt, Christian R. Mundt and Cameron A. Mundt; great-great grandchildren, Seth M. McClelland and Kolt S. McClelland; niece, Susan Lovelace of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two great-nieces; a great-nephew; and other relatives.

Mrs. Milnes was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Clara Fiesbeck; her husband, Bob; and nephew, John M. “Mickey” Lovelace.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street; the Reverend Mark Teike and Larry Klebenow will officiate. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Milnes will be laid to rest next to her husband in Section 58 at Garland Brook Cemetery.
