Bettye R. Mann

Bettye R. Mann, 89, of Columbus passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Four Seasons Health Care Center.

Bettye was born August 31, 1931 in Henderson, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Thomas and Cyril Garner Sights. Bettye married Edward F. Mann on May 12, 1956 in Henderson, Kentucky. They were happily married for 61 years. Edward preceded her in death on January 24, 2018.

Bettye was a resilient, selfless, and loving woman all her life. As a young girl she overcame polio and went on to lead a very active life devoted to her family and volunteering in the community. Bettye was a very prominent member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority. She held several offices and volunteered her time to the Psi Iota Xi Thrift Shop for many years as well as receiving the 1985 National Psi Iota Xi Woman of the Year Award.

She was also a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Columbus. She was treasurer of United Methodist Women Priscilla Circle and district treasurer of UMW. She committed her time to several other missions within the church.

Not only was Bettye an avid volunteer she loved to play Bridge. She was a member of several Bridge Clubs with lifelong friends. She was also a member of Loquacious Lassie Extension Homemakers Club where she enjoyed spending time with friends. Bettye loved being social and dedicating her time to her family, friends, and community.

She is survived by her children, Gayle (Chris) Kelley of Columbus and David Mann of Indianapolis; sister, Carol (Otis) Walker of Henderson, KY; grandchildren, Olivia Kelley, Hannah (Evan) Otte, Beck Kelley, Steven Mann, Zachary Mann, Andrea (Jerry) Infantino, and Dr. April Lee; great grandchildren, Amelia Otte, Addison Infantino, and Leander Green; and several nieces and nephews of Evansville and Henderson area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steven Edward Mann.

A graveside service will be conducted Monday at Oakhill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana with Rev. Howard Boles officiating. Visitation will be Sunday 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Myers~Reed Chapel on 25th Street. In keeping with CDC and Indiana guidelines, social distancing must be followed and masks are required. You may also be asked to wait outside due to the social distanced capacity of the funeral home.
