Homemakers support cancer research fund

In June of 2010, the Indiana Extension Homemakers Association (IEHA) established a Cancer Research Endowment Fund at Purdue University.

The partnership agreement began with IEHA agreeing to commit to funding an endowment of $25,000 within a five-year period. It was recently announced that this fund has grown to a total of $226,174.57.

The Bartholomew County Extension Homemakers have participated in the endowment fund since its inception.

The IEHA raises funds in various ways. They have held silent auctions, white elephant sales, garage sales, sponsored dinners for the public, held fall craft fairs, and sold homemade pies at county fairs.

IEHA was founded in 1913 and has over 6,400 members statewide. The mission of IEHA is “To strengthen families through continuing education, leadership development, and volunteer community support.” Membership is open to anyone, male or female, with a desire for learning and a thirst for helping make their communities a better place to live and thrive.
