Peggy Jean Turnmire, 73, passed away Thursday, March 18, 2021. Peggy was born July 14, 1947 to parents Roscoe and Pauline Newland.
For many years, she worked in multiple nursing homes locally, and eventually retired from Four Seasons. Peggy was a hard worker and was very passionate about her job. She loved being able to help others.
When she wasn’t working, Peggy enjoyed spending time with her dogs, doing word searches, watching game shows, and “antiquing” with her sister.
Peggy is survived by her sons, Donald (Leslie) Brown of Greensburg, Indiana and Jeffrey Turnmire of Hope, Indiana; her grandchildren, Dylan Turnmire and Lacey (Logan) Siegelin; her great-grandson, Landyn Siegelin; her brothers, Eddie (Connie) Newland of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Ralph (Sue) Newland, and Don Newland, Both of Columbus, Indiana; her sister, Patty (Dennis) Schulz of Kissimmee, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Jerry Newland; and two sisters, Shirley Grider and Carol Lewis.
A Funeral Service for Peggy will be held Friday, March 26 at 11 a.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel with Pastor Dennis Aud officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In compliance with Indiana and CDC guidelines, social distancing ordinances must be maintained and masks are required at all times inside the funeral home.
Memorial Donations in Peggy’s name may be made to the Bartholomew County Human Society.
