For the J. Irwin Miller Architecture Program, 2021 is a milestone that marks the first graduating cohort since its inception in 2018.
T. Kelly Wilson, the graduate program’s director, said that there are 18 graduates in the 2021 class.
The architecture program is offered through the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design. Wilson said that the program’s graduates will participate in the IU Bloomington’s Graduate Ceremony at 10 a.m. May 7 in Memorial Stadium. As with IUPUC, the event will follow IU’s commencement protocols. Guests will not be allowed and should instead tune in virtually.
"Based on commencement safety protocols, the graduates will receive staggered arrival times, be placed in physically distanced seating and be required to wear masks throughout the duration," Wilson said.
He added that the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design will hold its own "exercise for graduating students" by Zoom only, beginning at 5 p.m.
Wilson said that the architecture program’s 2021 class represents "a significant step in the relationship between the community of Columbus and IU."
"This graduating class is the consequence of work that began with the creation of the IU Center for Art and Design, itself a collaboration between IU and Columbus, achieving the master of architecture program in 2018," he said.
