Matt Boknecht of Seymour took to the high side of Brownstown Speedway in the closing laps of the Scott Patman Memorial super stock Special to overtake Tucker Chastain and notch his third career victory in the annual event on May 1. Boknecht later in the evening would get the “double” for the night by also winning in the open wheel modified feature.
Boknecht, a second-generation racer, got the win ahead of Tucker Chastain, J.T. Huffman, Mike Fields and Steve Hollars. This is Boknecht’s first win in the “Pewter Hall” super stock division for the year.
Tyler Neal of Paragon once again visited Victory Lane in “P3 Graphix” Indiana Late Model Series Pro Late Models. Neal got his fourth ILMS win in front of Steve Peeden, Shelby Miles, Colton Sullivan and Jeremy Owens.
Boknecht would get his second win of the night by following up his super stock win with a “Backwoods Express” modified feature victory. Jacoby Hines, Tim Prince, Dustin Bruce and Bill Lewis followed Boknecht to his first modified win of the year.
Dusten Carr of Underwood captured his second win for the year in “All in 1 Pools” pure stocks. Trailing Carr at the checkers were Keaton Streeval, Dalton Roark, Buddy Stearns and Dalton Fleenor.
Blake Durbin of Salem recorded his first ever Brownstown hornet division feature win. Jacob Owens, Shane Reed, Landon Arcaro and Gabe Caudill followed Durbin at the finish line.
Tonight, Brownstown will host a regular program of pro late models, super stocks, pure stocks, crown vics and hornets. On Wednesday Night, Brownstown will host the FLO Racing Night in America with a $10,000-to-win payoff for super late models. Also competing will be open wheel modifieds. Neal wins at Terre Haute Action Track
Tyler Neal backed up his win the night before at Brownstown by winning the Indiana Late Model series event on Sunday at Terre Haute Action Track.
Shelby Miles was second, followed by Brad Barrow, Steve Peeden and Tyler Cain. Completing the top 10 were Alan Magner, Colton Sullivan, Robert Rainey, Zack Burton and Jesse Tunny.
Stewart’s All-Star midgets in action
Tony Stewart’s All-Star Circuit of Champions TQ Midgets were in action last weekend. On April 30 at Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, Ashlea Albertson won the feature race over Johnny Goff, Matt Lux, Johnny Heydenreich, and Joey Paxson. On May 1 at the Bartholomew County 4-H Fairgrounds in Columbus, the winner was Addison True over Matt Lux, Matthew Hedrick, Joey Paxson, and Cory Clay.
The series has announced that tonight’s event at the Shelby County 4-H Fairgrounds in Shelbyville has been cancelled due to drainage issues at the track. The next scheduled event will be on May 20 at the new Circle City Raceway in Indianapolis, which is located at the Marion County Fairgrounds.
Twin Cities hosting monster trucks tonight
Twin Cities Raceway Park in Vernon will host a Monster Truck Show tonight. On May 1, the feature winners were Tyler Cain of Seymour (crate late models), Ross Smith of Columbus (super stocks), Jerry Adams of Elizabethtown (pure stocks), Dan Ingram of Indianapolis (410 steel block sprints), Steve Day (crown vics) and Shane Wheeler of Morgantown (hornets). Adams wins at Lawrenceburg
Max Adams won the sprint car feature on May 1 at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Nick Bilbee, the current track points leader, finished in second, followed by Korbyn Hayslett, Garrett Abrams and Saban Bibent.
Kyle Schornick won the open wheel modified feature over Scottie Williams, Matt Hamilton, David Spille and Bobby Burleson.

Rice takes Florence biggie
Josh Rice picked up the biggest win of his racing career on May 1, winning the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned 35th Ralph Latham Memorial at Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky.
Rice took the lead on Lap 57 of the 60-lap main event from Hudson O’Neal and went on to win the $15,000 first-place prize. O’Neal finished in second, followed by Jonathan Davenport, Tyler Erb and Tim McCreadie.
Eldora opener set for tonight
Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, will be racing tonight with the World of Outlaw Sprint Cars and the USAC National Sprint Car Series.

Ray wins at Bloomington
Davey Ray won the sprint car feature on April 30 at Bloomington Speedway. Trailing Ray across the finish line were Jordan Kinser, Braxton Cummings, A.J. Hopkins and Brady Short. Brad Frye won the super stock main event over Austin Phelps, Travis Howe, Justin Massie and Wes McClara. Tyler Nicely took the open wheel modified feature over Jordan Wever, Josh Harris, Jacoby Hines and John DeMoss. Jordan Almanza won the bomber feature over Jacob Ham, Katie Grigsby, Tyler Rodgers and Kyle Prince.
Bloomington’s next event will be on May 14 with the Roddy Strong Memorial race for open wheel modifieds. Also competing will be 410 sprint cars, super stocks and 305 RaceSaver sprints.

From this weekend in 1971 at Haubstadt, Cliff Cockrum won the sprint car feature over Sheldon Kinser, Wes Stafford, Larry Gates and Jim Hirsch. The late model feature went to Jim Curry.
From 20 years ago in 2001 at Brownstown, John Gill won the late model feature race over Dick Philips, Marty O’Neal, C.J. Rayburn, and Steven Godsey. Bubba Woods won the bomber feature over Charlie Stevens, Jr., Kevin Applegate, Robert Walters and Ben Burton. Gregg O’Neill won the super stock main event over Brad Cummings, Jay Deckard, Darin George and Gary Green.
From 10 years ago in 2011 at Brownstown, Don O’Neal was victorious in the Lee Fleetwood Memorial for late models taking the win over Kent Robinson, Dillan White, Mike Jewell and Steven Godsey. Ryan Thomas won the modified feature over Clint DeMoss, Jared Bailey, Jacoby Hines and Richie Lex. Darren Crawhorn grabbed the bomber feature win over Ronnie Pardue, Brent Lee, David Waggoner and Scott Barker. Jeremy Hines took the super stock feature over Troy Clark, Jason Hehman, Jamey Wilson and Tim Clark. Lucas Jackson was first in the hornet division feature over Dallas Bowman, Adam Bowman, R.J. Perry and Chris Corbin.
