Hogstock to benefit arts council

You’ve heard of Woodstock.

Now, prepare for Hogstock, a first-time, small-town, day-long music extravaganza June 12 to benefit the Columbus Area Arts Council.

But despite the fact that this is an inaugural get-together, organizer Scott Wilson is an old pro at putting together music gatherings for the past 20 years, first for the annual Alleyfest at 20th Street and Lafayette Avenue and then Willyfest in his own backyard.

His company, Scott Wilson State Farm Insurance and Hog Molly Brewing Co. are teaming up to host the outdoor, rain-or-shine, live music and craft beer festival to benefit the nonprofit Columbus Area Arts Council.

Gates open at 11 a.m. for the 21-and-older event slated from noon to 10 p.m. at Hog Molly Brewing Co. at 830 Depot St. on the north end of Columbus. The nine local and regional performers and their usual genres are:

  • Acoustic Edge, a classic rock duo.
  • Matt Rust, offering covers and original folk-rock.
  • Pat Gill, classic and modern rock.
  • Timothy Scott, classic rock.
  • Lindsey Flannery, classic and soulful rock.
  • Beep Boop, classic pop-rock and some country.
  • The McGuires Band, classic rock.
  • 3 Beards Strummin’
  • 3 Beards and Soul Patch, a just-formed local group doing everything from Chicago to Earth, Wind and Fire.

"We’re really excited about the musical lineup," Wilson said.

Food trucks on hand will be Jalapeños Grill; Pig & Tasty BBQ; Junkyard BBQ; Party Chef; Beer by Hog Molly Brewing Co.

Pre-registration for early ticket sales runs through June 9. There will be a $20 entry fee ($10 entry fee for Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. teachers with valid school ID). The Tony London Co. is selling $15 event T-shirts.

Day-of entry increases to $25 entry fee. Organizers encourage attendees to bring their own lawn chair. Valid IDs will be required at the gate.

Wristbands will be distributed so people can freely come and go.

No outside food or drink will be permitted. No pets other than certified service animals will be allowed.

Wilson, a member of Three Beards Strummin’ and also a new, brass-oriented, double-named group, Three Beards Strummin’ and Soul Patch, mentioned that, if the weather is good, he could see 300 to 500 people are more attending for at least part of the day.

"But because this is the first time that we have done this, we don’t exactly know what to expect," Wilson said.
