State: 153 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health announced Friday that 153 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 755,700 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 13,459 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase 20 since July 2. Another 425 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

A total of 3,594,166 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,587,191 on July 2. A total of 10,909,182, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 8,184 positive cases Tuesday (up one) and a cumulative total of 157 deaths (no change).

  • Jackson County: 5,100 positive cases (up one), 77 deaths (no change)
  • Jennings County: 2,357 positive cases (no change), 49 deaths (no change)
  • Decatur County: 2,902 positive cases (no change), 92 deaths (no change)
  • Shelby County: 5,050positive cases (up seven), 97 deaths (no change)
  • Johnson County: 18,540 positive cases (up two), 389 deaths (no change)
  • Brown County: 1,047 positive cases (up one) 43 deaths (no change)

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

As of today, a total of 5,659,436 doses have been administered in Indiana. This includes 2,819,341 first doses and 2,849,095 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
