State: 289 additional Hoosiers diagnosed with COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Department of Health announced Friday that  289 additional Hoosiers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 through testing at state and private laboratories. That brings to 756,070 the number of Indiana residents now known to have had the novel coronavirus following corrections to the previous day’s dashboard.

To date, 13,46 Hoosiers are confirmed to have died from COVID-19, an increase seven since Tuesday. Another 426 probable deaths have been reported to date based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

A total of 3,595,672 unique individuals have been tested in Indiana, up from 3,594,166 on Tuesday. A total of 10,918,291, including repeat tests for unique individuals, have been reported to the state Department of Health since Feb. 26, 2020.

Bartholomew County reported 8,184 positive cases Wednesday (no change) and a cumulative total of 157 deaths (no change).

Surrounding counties reported:

  • Jackson County: 5,101 positive cases (up one), 77 deaths (no change)
  • Jennings County: 2,357 positive cases (no change), 49 deaths (no change)
  • Decatur County: 2,902 positive cases (up one), 92 deaths (no change)
  • Shelby County: 5,050 positive cases (no change), 97 deaths (no change)
  • Johnson County: 18,544 positive cases (up six), 389 deaths (no change)
  • Brown County: 1,052 positive cases (no changes), 43 deaths (no change)

Hoosiers age 12 and older can receive a COVID-19 vaccine; individuals younger than age 18 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine only. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are accepted at most sites.

As of today, a total of 5,670,472 have been administered in Indiana. This includes 2,823,52 first doses and 2,846,920 individuals who are fully vaccinated. The fully vaccinated number represents individuals who have received a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines and those who received the single Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
