Fletcher Allen Green

NORTH VERNON

Fletcher Allen Green, 82, of North Vernon, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at his residence.

Born October 18, 1938, in Jennings County, he was the son of the late Alvin Ernest and Sarah Edna (Meek) Green. He married Joyce Ann Cope on September 15, 1962, in Tyner, Tennessee; she survives.

Fletcher graduated from Paris Crossing High School in 1956 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 until 1962. He worked as an engine analyst for Cummins Engine Company for 30 years before retiring in 1988. He had also driven trucks for Ron Green Trucking and mowed lawns. Fletcher was a member and Deacon of Tea Creek Baptist Church and was a Paris Crossing Alumni member. Fletcher enjoyed singing, playing guitar, farming, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Surviving with his wife, Joyce, are his sons, Jeffrey Allen (Stephanie) Green and Michael Alvin (Rhonda Ponsler) Green, both of North Vernon; sisters, Loretta Earl of Russellville, Arkansas and Maxine (Carl) Hill of Holton; grandchildren, Brandon Jackson of Richmond, Sara (Tony) Gudgel of Commiskey, and Merrick Austin Green, Zachary Green, and LeeAndra Green, all of North Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ron Green; and his sister, Charlotte Randall.

A funeral service for Fletcher will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Tea Creek Baptist Church in Jennings County with the Rev. Philip Elliott and Rev. Bart Smith officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Tea Creek Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Tea Creek Cemetery Association.
