Columbus police and firefighters are investigating what caused an SUV to travel through a bean field and a fence before hitting a home in a backyard on Osprey Drive in the Parkside neighborhood.

Police said the accident happened at about 12:30 p.m. The male driver, who has not yet been identified, was seriously injured, according to investigators.

The driver of the SUV drove through a bean field east of the People Trail in the Parkside neighborhood near Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp.’s new soccer complex, across the People Trail and then through a fence, striking a house, police said. No one in the house was injured, nor were there any people injured in the neighborhood, police said.
