Mill Race Marathon organizers have announced participation awards for schools whose students competed in last week’s Kids Fun Run.
According to race director Randy Stafford, the awards are as follows, by division:
Large Schools:
1st — Southside
2nd — Parkside
Participation — Schmitt, Clifty Creek, Taylorsville and Richards.
Medium Schools:
1st — CSA-Lincoln
2nd — Smith
Small Schools:
1st — ABC Stewart
2nd — CSA-Fodrea
Participation — St. Peters Lutheran and St. Bartholomew.
Preschools:
1st — First Presbyterian
Participation — Asbury-CMO
All of these schools will receive gift certificates for purchasing athletic equipment.
According to organizers, elementary schools with the highest participation percentage for their category will receive a $700 gift certificate; runners-up receive a $500 gift certificate. The preschool with the highest participation percentage, based on enrollment, receives a $200 gift certificate.
For participation prizes, preschools with 10 or more finishers receive a $75 gift certificate; elementary schools with 10 or more finishers receive $250 gift certificate.
Stafford reported that, overall, the Kids Fun Run saw 590 finishers, which is 25% lower than in 2019.
“We are pleased with the turnout and cooperation of the schools, parents and kids to make the event successful,” he said.
