Schoen named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week

Eastern Kentucky’s Sydney Schoen, who went over the 1,000 digs mark for her career in Saturday’s five-set win against Central Arkansas, has been named the ASUN Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Schoen, a redshirt junior libero from Hauser, had a match-high 26 digs and had two aces in Friday’s five-set win over Lipscomb. She had a match-best 27 digs and two aces against Central Arkansas, helping the Colonels (9-20, 6-9) secure a spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament.

Schoen averaged 5.30 digs per set and had four service aces last week. She ranks second in the ASUN with 473 digs and fifth with an average of 4.11 digs per set this season.

Eastern Kentucky will close the regular season at home against Bellarmine on Saturday, then will play in the ASUN Tournament beginning Nov. 18 at Florida Gulf Coast.
