GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bull Dogs rout Flashes 

INDIANAPOLIS Columbus North jumped out to a 41-17 halftime lead and cruised from there Tuesday night for a 59-35 win at Franklin Central.

Lauren Barker led the Bull Dogs (4-2) with 18 points. Kyla Lawson scored 12 points, while Andrea Justis had nine and Kayla Jones added eight.

Panthers down Devils 

JEFFERSONVILLE Jennings County used a 16-4 second-quarter spurt to break open a close game and went on to claim a 50-32 Hoosier Hills Conference win against Jeffersonville.

Juliann Woodard led the Panthers (6-0, 1-0) with 21 points. Alexis Carson scored 10, and Kali Thompson added eight.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jets stop Eagles 

NASHVILLE Hauser jumped out to a 44-21 halftime lead and went on to open the season with a 74-44 win at Brown County.

Bryce Bates led the Jets with 29 points. Taeshaun Tungate scored 17, and Koby Johnson added 10.

Kayden Bellmore led the Eagles with 13 points. Carter Kelly added 10.

Trinity tops South Decatur

SEYMOUR Trinity Lutheran overcame a 42-point performance from South Decatur’s Hunter Johnson to post a 79-71 season-opening victory.

Mitchell Hackman scored 34 points to lead Trinity. Sage Broughton added 25.

Jacob Scruggs chipped in 20 points for South Decatur.

Lancers win opener 

SHELBYVILLE Travis Jones and Riley Palmeter hit three-quarter court shots at the end of the first and second periods, and Edinburgh opened the season with a 74-59 Mid-Hoosier Conference win at Southwestern (Shelby).

Caleb Dewey led the Lancers with 27 points. Jones scored 16, while Landen Burton had 15 and Palmeter added 12.
