Margie Hammack

COLUMBUS

Margie Hammack, 74, of Columbus, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021.

She was born March 21, 1947 in Moss, TN, to Gilbert and Allie (Odle) Cherry. On June 5, 1965, she married James A. Hammack in Columbus. He preceded her in death July 18, 2019.

Margie was a 1965 graduate of Columbus North High School. Margie also graduated from Indiana Business College.

Margie was a former real estate agent for Century 21 Paden, and was past secretary of ProMusica.

Margie owned several shops in Nashville, IN, that she was very proud of over the years. She was also a published author. Margie also founded the Secret Garden Peacock Chapter of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed going out with her friends dressed in their Red Hat attire. Margie also cherished spending Friday nights with her grandson, Parker Hammack, watching TV or a movie.

In addition to her husband James, she was preceded in death by her father, Gilbert Cherry; and brothers, Gene and Clyde Cherry.

Surviving are her loving children, Lisa (Brian Abner) Hammack and Brian (Stacey) Hammack, both of Columbus; grandson, Parker Hammack of Columbus; mother, Allie Cherry of Columbus; and sisters, Shirley (David) Watkins of North Vernon, Evelyn (Larry) West of Columbus, Dale (Marty) Wachtstetter of Columbus, Janet Miller of Columbus, and Penny (Jim) McCleery of Hope.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2021 at Myers-Reed Chapel with Rev. Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Visitation will also be on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
