DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS STORYWALK, downtown Columbus. This December, enjoy the charming picture book “Red and Lulu” by Matt Tavares in the shop windows of downtown Columbus. There are cardinals hiding along the StoryWalk; try to find them all! Stop by the children’s circulation desk of the Bartholomew County Public Library and tell us how many cardinals you found for a prize! The story begins in the window of Hoosier Sporting Goods at 611 Washington St. Follow the windows south to Third Street, and then head north to Viewpoint books.

BLACKWELL PARK STORYWALK, Blackwell Park, 1550 Whitney Court, Columbus. The Columbus Parks and Recreation Department and the Bartholomew County Public Library are excited to bring you A Big Bed for Little Snow by Grace Lin. The StoryWalk is located along the People Trail.

Galleries, museums, exhibits

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY, 524 Third St., Columbus, “Christmas Memories,” through Dec. 22. This exhibit features a variety of decorated trees and creches from the elaborate and eclectic collection of the late Xenia Miller. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. BCHS hosts two permanent exhibits that share the history and heritage of Bartholomew County. Learn about our county through interactive, hands-on exhibits that include a map table, notable people, county timeline, Then and Now, Did you Know, early industrialists and videos of Reeves steam engines. The historical society also hosts rotating exhibits throughout the year featuring items from their extensive collection. Currently they are collaborating on two exhibits — Marquee Moments features collection and borrowed items with historical information about theaters that existed in Columbus through the years, including The Crump, Rio, Drive-in and more. YELLOW TRAIL MUSEUM/VISITOR CENTER, west side of Hope Town Square at 644 Main St., Hope. YELLOW TRAIL MUSEUM SUNDAY SOCIALS, 2 to 4 p.m., first Sunday of each month. All are welcome to have coffee and join in discussions about various topics from the community’s past, including stories about growing up in the communities of Hope, Hartsville, Clifford and St. Louis Crossing. BROWN COUNTY ART GUILD ANNUAL PATRON &YOUTH EXHIBITS, Brown County Art Guild, 48 S. Van Buren St., Nashville. Offering a wide variety of art from talented patrons and the next generation of artists. A virtual tour of the current exhibit “In-Depth” is also available online at bit.ly/2N195rk. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a community art project with the goals of amplifying the voices of survivors and working toward preventing domestic violence through art is presented. “Transformation” consists of 692 buttons designed by children, teens and adults in the local community and surrounding area. The installation is open for viewing on Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. or by appointment.

HOOSIER ARTIST GALLERY, 45 S. Jefferson St., Nashville. Hoosier Artist Gallery is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Masks are required. Photographer Tom Duffy is the Hoosier Artist Gallery December Featured Artist. Duffy shares his perception and understanding of the environment in a way that will stimulate the imagination and the emotions of the viewer. His use of morning and evening light and the resulting shadows are an important component in his quest to represent that perception. His photographs have a wide variety of subject matter and contexts as well as photographic techniques, reflecting his commitment to his wide exploration of the beauty and the mystery in the world. In addition to Duffy’s photographs and the art of other members, the gallery also offers many large and small holiday gift items and handmade Christmas tree ornaments and cards.
