East and North headed to nationals for cheer

Cheerleading squads from two local high schools will compete at a national competition in February.

According to Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. school board member Todd Grimes, cheer teams from both Columbus East and North are headed to the National High School Cheerleading Championship, which is held by the Universal Cheerleaders Association. Grimes congratulated both teams on their success at a recent board meeting.

The UCA’s website states that nationals will take place Feb. 11-13, 2022, at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

“For more than 40 years, the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship has been the culmination of the season for cheerleaders across the nation,” the organization states. “It’s the most prestigious high school national championship in the country and the perfect opportunity for cheerleading teams to get together and celebrate each other at the Most Magical Place on Earth, the Walt Disney World Resort.”
