COLUMBUS
Wynona Ruth Lienhoop, 93, of Columbus passed from this life at 7:51 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Brown County Health &Living Community.
Wynona was born June 3, 1928, in Medora, Indiana, the daughter of Daniel Wirt and Grace Johnson Woods. She married Norman Gene Lienhoop June 20, 1946. He preceded her in death August 21, 2003.
Wynona was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. She worked at Singer Sewing before becoming a homemaker and caring for her husband and four children.
For many years, Wynona would can and freeze vegetables grown from their large vegetable garden. She was an excellent cook and even better baker. Wynona loved making a large assortment of Christmas cookies each year.
Wynona spent many summers teaching her granddaughters cooking and baking skills in preparation for their Foods and Food Preservation 4-H projects. She enjoyed playing cards and Rummikub.
In recent years Wynona slowed down and enjoyed relaxing and watching the Game Show Network. Wynona always asked about the weather outside and always wanted to know how everyone was doing.
She is survived by her son, Bruce (Lisa) Lienhoop of Columbus; grandchildren, Damon Duncan, Adelaide (Mike) Wetzel, Justin (Heather) Lienhoop, and Christopher Taulman all of Columbus; Michelle (Tom) Richardson and Matt (Ashley) McDaniel of Manilla; Chari (Matt) Hayden of Hebron; and Dawn (John) Boerger of Irwin, Ohio and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters Jenny (Randie) McDaniel, Diane (Dave) Duncan, and Peg (Rex) Shireman-Cook; four brothers; three sisters; and her grandson Michael McDaniel and great-granddaughter Mackenzie Brown. Wynona loved her grandchildren and especially adored her great-grandchildren.
She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by them.
The funeral will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Mark Teike officiating.
Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to time of service.
Burial will be at Flat Rock Baptist Cemetery.
