Another restaurant leaving Columbus dining scene

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Changes in Columbus’ dining landscape are continuing, including the departure of Subway and Orange Leaf from The Commons, a grand reopening of the Garage Pub and Grill under new ownership, and the closure of the long-running Musillami’s Drive-In.

And while it’s only a week into the new year, 2022 may hold just as many changes. Indiana Smokehouse has announced its closure, effective Saturday. Joe Willy’s Burger Bar is up for sale. And Lucabe Coffee Co. was recently granted a lease extension as owners sought more time to make a decision about their downtown location.

Indiana Smokehouse, 2825 Middle Road, announced its closing on social media.

“Thank you Columbus for all of your continued love and support throughout our seven years,” the restaurant said in a social media post.

Owners Matt and Gloria Gatesy declined to comment. The couple, who met at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Dallas, opened the business in 2014. Matt said in a previous interview that the barbecue restaurant was inspired by their experiences living in Texas.
