Gross named to Bevo Francis watch list

Olivet Nazarene’s Alex Gross has been named to the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Top 100 watch list.

Gross, a senior from Hauser, is tied for first in the NAIA with 12.9 rebounds a game, is second with 56 total blocks and is 14th in total assists with 90. Gross also averages a team-high 20 points a game, which is 26th in the nation and second in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. His 144 made field goals is 17th in the country.

The Tigers are 16-3 overall and lead the CCAC at 10-1. They are receiving votes in this week’s NAIA Top 25 poll.

Gross is a three-time CCAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week this season. He is the only CCAC player to make this list.

The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. The list will be narrowed down to the top 50 on Feb. 15 and the top 25 on March 15, with the finalists determined on April 2 and the winner announced on April 4.

Lee transferring from IU to Denver

Christopher Lee, who spent the first semester of his freshman year swimming at Indiana University, is transferring to University of Denver.

Lee competed in one meet for the Hoosiers in November. He plans to start at Denver at the beginning of its fourth quarter this spring and will have 3 1/2 years of eligibility remaining.
