Laura Begley Giles, 81, of Columbus, passed away peacefully January 26, 2022 at her home. She was born December 28, 1940 in Hyden, Kentucky to the late George and Lottie Begley.
Laura was a loving mother and grandmother to all her family. She would reach out in love to all, including the homeless and stray animals. She is best described by the Bible verse, Matthew 22:39, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday February 1, 2022 at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Jones officiating. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Garland Brook Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Laura to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
Laura is survived by her sons, Eric Lee, Robert (Tina) Giles, Roger (Michelle) Giles and Charles Giles; daughters, Margie Pearson, Loretta (Eddie) Davis and Vanessa (Rob) Giles; step daughter, Alice Perkins; sisters, Teena Ball and Reba Estep and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherry Sanders; step children, Hubert Giles, Ronald Giles and Lura Burris and brothers, Scott Begley and Walter Begley.
