East, Hauser girls basketball sectional games postponed to Saturday

For the third day in a row Friday, winter weather played havoc with postseason and regular season sporting events.

Columbus East’s girls basketball sectional semifinal game against Martinsville at Bloomington North and Hauser’s girls basketball sectional first-round game against Jac-Cen-Del at Waldron were postponed until Saturday. Both are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The semifinals at Waldron now will be played on Monday, and the finals at both Bloomington North and Waldron will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Jennings County’s girls basketball sectional semifinal game against Seymour at Jeffersonville has been pushed back to 6 p.m. Monday. The final will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Trinity Lutheran’s girls basketball sectional semifinal game against Crothersville at West Washington was moved to 6 p.m. today. The final will be Tuesday.

Columbus Christian’s home boys basketball game against Community Christian was postponed from Friday to today. Hauser’s boys basketball game against Southwestern (Shelby) scheduled for Saturday has been moved to Thursday.

The Floyd Central girls swimming sectional prelims, which had been postponed from Thursday to Friday, were postponed to 1 p.m. Saturday. The finals at that site, where Jennings County is competing, will be Monday.

The Columbus North girls swim sectional, which includes Columbus East and the host Bull Frogs, also will conduct its sectional prelims at 1 p.m. Saturday, following the diving prelims, semifinals and finals, which begin at 9 a.m. Finals will be at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Also, the start of Saturday’s Jeffersonville wrestling regional, where all local teams have individuals competing, has been pushed back from 9 to 11 a.m.

The Elementary Basketball League semifinals will begin at 8 a.m. (girls) and 9 a.m. (boys) Saturday at Columbus East. Cheer Day starts at 11 a.m., and the girls final will be at 2:30 p.m., followed by the boys final at 4 p.m.
