Bernard A. Pfeifer

Bernard A. Pfeifer, 78, of Butlerville, passed away at 8:14 a.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. He was born on March 8, 1943 in Jennings County, the son of John A. and Marie Frances (Kline) Pfeifer. Bernard was a lifelong resident of Jennings County and a 1961 graduate of North Vernon High School. He retired from Cummins Engine Co. in 1999 after 33 years of service. He was a lifelong member of the former St. Denis Catholic Church and now a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking. He served in the Indiana National Guard for 6 years in the Armored Division. He married Nell Ann Downs on January 8, 1966 in North Vernon. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2021. He is survived by his daughter, Katherine (Michael) Malone of North Vernon; a son, Bernard (Lynne) Pfeifer of Greensburg; brother, Alvin D. Pfeifer of Butlerville; grandchildren, Chealsy (Casey) Parr, Ryan (Miranda) Malone, Erika Malone and Rebecca Pfeifer; great grandchildren, Gracie Taylor and William Parr. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Millhousen with Father Jey officiating. Burial will follow at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2022. A time of visitation will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 from 3:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Bass &Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. We ask visitors to follow social distancing guidelines once inside the funeral home and masks are recommended. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Research, Letts Volunteer Fire Department or the Westport Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
