Crusaders victorious

Columbus Christian shut out Christian Academy of Madison in the first quarter, built a 33-6 lead by haftime and went on to post a 51-26 win on Saturday.

Sarah Lorimor led the Crusaders (17-12) with 21 points. Eva Blair scored 11, and Lauren Sanders added eight.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Cougars top Jets

HOPE — Hauser led 21-16 after one quarter, and was tied 36-36 at halftime, but South Decatur took control in the second half for a 79-70 Mid-Hoosier Conference win.

Hunter Johnson scored 22 points, and Dale Peters added 20 to lead the Cougars (11-10, 4-2). Jacob Scruggs had 16, and Evan Wullenweber chipped in 13.

Bryce Bates led the Jets (8-13, 1-5) with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Eli Miller scored 13 points, Ledger Gelfius had nine points and Koby Johnson added eight points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Columbus Christian jumped out to a 14-3 lead after one quarter, but Christian Academy of Madison rallied for a 62-58 victory.

Gabe Ridder led the Crusaders (19-15) with 24 points. Noah Edwards scored 16, and Peyton Rehlander added 11.

Jennings pulls shocker

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County beat Bloomington South for the first time in more than a quarter-century with a 53-46 victory.

Jacob Vogel led Jennings (14-6) with 16 points. Carson McNulty scored 14 points, and Keegan Manowitz added 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Lancers fall to Cougars

EDINBURGH — Class A No. 4 Edinburgh fell to Class A No. 3 North Daviess 55-47 in a battle of top-five teams.

The Lancers fell to 18-3.

Chargers topple Eagles

NASHVILLE — Brown County was within 12-11 after one quarter, but Pike Central pulled away for a 66-46 win.

Kaydon Bellmore led the Eagles (2-17) with 12 points. Carter Kelly added 11.
